It is popularly known as the flower of love. The rose also comes in different colors. The color that is well known amongst people is the red colored one. Perhaps that is why it has come to symbolize beauty.
A rose flower has many layers of petals. In its bud form, it appears even prettier. It has a center with stamen and pollen like other flowers. Rose is most known for its sweet and refreshing fragrance. After the petals fall of the fruits or the rose-hip is used for its medicinal properties most commonly in the tea form.
A rosebush typically has plenty of thorns to protect the flower from animals. It could be a small bush not bigger than a hand, or it could be a strong climber going up to a couple of stories even. Roses come in many different colors and varieties. Although pink, red, white and yellow are the most common colors, it is not uncommon to see flowers with blended colors.

Origin

Initially, rose flowers were known to be in the class of wildflowers, and they came from many parts of the earth. They are known to be in many parts of the world, in different continents, ranging from Asia, Europe, North America, and northwest Africa. According to research, there are over a hundred species of roses that have been discovered. Research has also been carried out, and people have found means to grow these wildflowers in the vicinity of their houses especially in gardens. The ones that grow in the gardens are called cultivars.

Importance

This smell is produced from its petals as there are tiny perfume glands on them. No other flower is as popular as a Red rose when it comes to conveying the feelings of love. This is evident from the huge number of red roses sold on Valentine’s Day.
Rose extracts are used as natural perfumes. Similarly, rose water extracted out of rose petals is used in many traditional societies for many purposes. It has many beneficial effects on the skin. It is also popular as a natural food flavoring agent.
Rose petal preserves, also known as Gulkand in India, is believed to have a cooling effect on the body and is in demand in summers.
